The Merino is not luxury- however, it is comfortable, convenient, well located and met my accommodation needs nicely.

In November 2024 I enjoyed a two night stay in St George, 520 kilometres south-west of Brisbane so that I could present a special award to a St George State High School year 12 student at the School’s Awards Presentation Night.

Great first visit to St George

Very clean and well located motor inn. The bed was so comfortable and the room nice and quiet. Just what we needed after a day of travelling. We loved the on-site restaurant too, great cook!

Great rooms and restaurant but swimming pool let’s this place down

Meet Jono and Tam, a dedicated couple and the proud new owners of the Merino Motor Inn. Together with their children, they have created a welcoming retreat for travellers.

Jono and Tam bring with them many years of experience in the hospitality industry. From working on luxury private yachts around the world to previously owning a successful motel in Roma, Jono and Tam have an eye for detail and comfort.

When they are not busy running the motel, you can find the family enjoying the local attractions of St George, and the beautiful Balonne River and making the most of their time together. Jono and Tam believe that every stay is an opportunity to create connections and lasting impressions.
